The National Coordinator of a New Delta and social change advocate, Comrade Temple Eteyeba, has accused Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of failing the people of Delta State in the face of growing insecurity.
Speaking at a community forum in Asaba, Eteyeba voiced deep concern over what he described as a worsening state of insecurity marked by kidnappings, armed robberies, and communal violence across several parts of the state.
He listed areas such as Udu, Abraka, Ika, Patani, Warri, Ughelli, Sapele, and Asaba, claiming that residents now live in fear amid a lack of concrete government response.
“Our people can no longer sleep with their two eyes closed. From Udu to Warri, Ughelli to Asaba, Sapele to Ozoro, Patani to Ika, Delta has become a danger zone,” he said. “The government has shown neither urgency nor innovation in addressing these threats.”
Eteyeba criticized the Oborevwori administration for what he called a failure to implement a proactive security strategy and insufficient collaboration with communities and security agencies.
“This government has failed Deltans in terms of securing lives and property.
“The time for speeches is over. Deltans need to see action. The governor must wake up to his responsibility or risk losing the people’s trust completely," he said.
Despite repeated assurances from the state government, Eteyeba said, residents have seen little improvement in the security situation and continue to live under siege.
