Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has declared that the 2027 general elections will herald a sweeping political revolution across Nigeria, with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) poised to take control in key states, especially Rivers.
Eze made the assertion in a statement issued on Thursday, following the triumphant return of former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, to Port Harcourt, which drew a massive crowd and triggered political ripples.
The APC stalwart described Amaechi’s warm reception as a powerful sign that Rivers people are ready for a leadership change and that ADC is being positioned as the alternative force to unseat what he called “undemocratic forces” in the state.
“For Amaechi to leave the APC—a party he helped found and bring to prominence—is a clear indication that he is on a national rescue mission,” Eze stated. “His move is both historic and strategic, aimed at realigning Nigeria on the path of genuine development.”
Eze claimed that Amaechi’s involvement in forming the coalition that adopted the ADC as its political vehicle is reminiscent of his 2015 role in galvanizing support that led to the APC’s emergence at the federal level.
“The kind of energy and vision Amaechi is bringing to the ADC reminds Nigerians of the early APC revolution. Those who thought his political relevance had waned are now rushing to join the 2027 ADC train,” Eze said.
He further alleged that the large turnout at Amaechi’s homecoming underscores the growing public disillusionment with the current administration and growing support for ADC across the country.
“This is not just about Rivers State. With Amaechi’s leadership and national appeal, the ADC is becoming the rallying point for a new Nigeria. Come 2027, Rivers and several other states will witness a change of guard,” he added.
Amaechi, who served as Governor of Rivers State and later as Minister of Transportation under the APC, has yet to formally announce his defection, but Eze’s statement strongly hints that the former governor’s political direction is now firmly with the ADC.
The development has thrown the Rivers political landscape into fresh speculation and reconfiguration ahead of the 2027 polls.
