Former Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has joined Nigerians and world leaders in mourning the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on July 13, 2025, in London.
In a solemn tribute released on Sunday, Amaechi described Buhari as more than a leader, hailing him as a statesman whose disciplined commitment to integrity and national service shaped Nigeria's moral compass.
“President Buhari was a symbol of quiet strength and national pride. His leadership was defined by a tireless fight against corruption and a vision of accountability and progress for Nigeria,” Amaechi stated.
Reflecting on his time as a two-term Minister under Buhari’s administration, Amaechi noted that the former President’s dedication to Nigeria’s development and stability was unmatched. “I witnessed firsthand his unwavering resolve to reposition Nigeria and uphold national dignity,” he added.
He expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family and the nation, praying for strength to bear the loss while urging Nigerians to hold fast to the values Buhari championed.
“May the Almighty grant him eternal rest. His legacy of discipline, patriotism, and honour will continue to guide this nation,” Amaechi concluded.
President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, served Nigeria both as a military head of state and as a democratically elected president, leaving behind a legacy defined by anti-corruption, military discipline, and national unity.
