Former Minister of Transportation, Rt Hon. Chibuike Amaechi’s involvement in an emerging political coalition aimed at unseating the APC-led federal government in 2027 is reportedly sending shockwaves across rival political camps, according to Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a press statement issued on Monday, Eze, a former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), said political adversaries are growing increasingly anxious over Amaechi’s prominent role in the coalition, which is evolving into what is expected to become a major political force known as the All Democratic Alliance (ADA).
“There is palpable tension and gloom of apprehension in the camp of Amaechi’s political foes due to his active participation in the coalition movement. His re-emergence has disrupted the calculations of those opposed to his grassroots popularity,” Eze stated.
Eze recalled that following the 2022 APC presidential primaries—where Amaechi came second to President Bola Tinubu—many assumed the former Rivers Governor had lost political relevance. He blamed electoral manipulation in Rivers State during the 2023 general elections, allegedly influenced by then-Governor Nyesom Wike, for undermining Amaechi’s influence at the time.
However, Eze emphasized that Amaechi’s recent political moves have rattled his detractors, including “fickle-minded political jobbers and saboteurs” who had once dismissed him. He alleged that these elements now fear Amaechi’s capacity to galvanize national support through principled leadership.
“Some adversaries even claim they’ll stop at nothing to frustrate Amaechi’s chances in 2027, believing in the manipulative strength of the federal might. But these are empty boasts by political sycophants,” he said.
He added that Amaechi and his loyalists are focused on delivering a people-centered government, committed to national unity, democratic ideals, and inclusive governance.
Describing Amaechi as a leader with a “large heart,” Eze said he is willing to welcome back political associates who had previously strayed but are now returning.
He dismissed insinuations from unnamed critics suggesting that Amaechi’s supporters intend to use power to victimize opponents if victorious in 2027. According to him, “Amaechi is focused on service and would work to improve the lives of suffering Nigerians, not pursue vendettas.”
Eze also criticized ongoing federal efforts under the Tinubu administration—particularly by the FCT Ministry—to appease the judiciary and electoral institutions, labeling them as “futile attempts” to influence the outcome of the next election.
He urged supporters of the coalition to remain “steadfast, focused, peaceful, and prayerful” as the movement gains momentum.
