…Says Buhari is not to blame, urges Nigerians to resist recycled politicians
A Southeast leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Richard Nwafor, has issued a strong warning to Nigerians over the ongoing political regrouping under the guise of a coalition, stating that it poses a dangerous threat capable of reinstalling the tyranny of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
Nwafor, who is a member of the PDP Contact and Mobilization Committee in the Southeast, cautioned that the coalition allegedly led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is a smokescreen created by the same political actors who masterminded the fall of the PDP in 2015 and plunged the country into years of hardship and instability.
“Don’t blame late Muhammadu Buhari. The real culprits are Nigerians who accepted money to vote APC in 2015 and are now plotting again under a coalition banner. If care is not taken, history will repeat itself,” he said.
According to Nwafor, the supposed coalition included individuals who have jumped from party to party, seeking power without ideology or sincerity.
He accused many of them of contributing to the collapse of Nigeria’s economy, insecurity, and democratic institutions during and after the APC’s takeover of power in 2015.
He cited former FCT Minister, Nasir El-Rufai, and former Interior Minister, Rauf Aregbesola, as examples of figures whose past roles in government caused social and economic dislocation but who are now presenting themselves as saviours within the ADC coalition.
“Let the late President Buhari rest in peace. Those masquerading as a rescue team today did worse when they had the opportunity.
"They are even more dangerous than Buhari and Tinubu,” Nwafor emphasized.
He added that the coalition lacks respect for zoning arrangements and transparency, warning that their only aim is to grab power at all costs, even if it means dividing the opposition and handing the presidency back to the APC.
“They are planning to split our votes and perpetuate APC's rule. That’s how they removed Goodluck Jonathan in 2015, promising heaven on earth. Nine years later, Nigeria is worse off," the PDP Chieftain declared.
Nwafor, who said he was vilified in 2015 for opposing APC, believes Nigerians have now seen the consequences of their choices. He warned that unless citizens unite to resist deceptive alliances, the country could usher in another administration worse than the outgoing one.
“If we are not vigilant, we will enthrone another monster in 2027 who will loot our treasury, kill dissent, and crush our democracy," he further stated.
Reaffirming his loyalty to the PDP, Nwafor urged Nigerians to rally behind the party, which he described as the only political platform capable of resetting Nigeria’s trajectory.
“PDP will overcome its internal issues and present a credible, tested candidate to lead Nigeria. The solution to our crisis is not in a fake coalition but in rebuilding trust in institutions and choosing wisely.
“A word is enough for the wise. Resist political fraudsters and stand with the PDP — Nigeria's only hope for true recovery," he concluded.
