The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ebonyi State, Dr. Jennifer Nwafor Adibe, has firmly denied allegations suggesting she is a mole working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
She described the claims as baseless and politically motivated attempts to undermine her leadership and the growing strength of the ADC in the state.
Speaking during a media briefing at the party's secretariat in Abakaliki, Nwafor reiterated her loyalty to the ADC and commitment to repositioning the party at the grassroots level ahead of future elections.
“I am not an APC mole. I was duly elected through a proper Congress in May 2022, and no one sponsors me. Nobody from any political party has ever contacted me to influence anything in ADC. My focus is on building the party and preparing it to win elections,” she stated.
The chairman disclosed that since the launch of the opposition coalition movement nationally, the ADC in Ebonyi State has intensified its grassroots mobilization.
According to her, over 2,000 new members have been registered within four days, signaling rising interest and confidence in the party.
“We are back to the grassroots. This is no longer business as usual. People want real change, and they see ADC as a platform for that. Every day, people are calling and coming to register with us,” she said.
She noted that the party has been actively engaging with other coalition partners in the state to build a united political front. Part of the efforts, she said, included stakeholder meetings, sensitization campaigns, and formal defection ceremonies planned for the coming weeks.
“There is only one ADC in Ebonyi and across Nigeria. We don’t have factions. All those joining NGOs, political groups, individuals are coming under one umbrella: ADC,” she emphasized.
Nwafor also clarified that joining ADC means embracing the party’s values and structures, not loyalty to individuals.
“If you’re leaving another party to join us, you're joining ADC, not me personally. And when you do, come out openly and declare it. Let the people know where you stand,” she said.
She stressed that now is not the time for politicking but for governance and party development, insisting that her priority is to strengthen ADC and prepare for a credible future electoral performance.
“This is not a campaign season. It’s time to build structures and show people what ADC stands for. We are educating citizens on our policies and what we offer differently,” she added.
Reaffirming her position, Nwafor concluded with a strong message of defiance against detractors and loyalty to her party: “I am not a tool for any other party. I remain committed to ADC and its mission. We are here to win, not to serve anyone’s hidden agenda,” she said.
