The member representing Ebonyi North West Constituency in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Barr. Aloysius Nwodo, has empowered his constituents with vital agricultural inputs during the 2025 wet farming season.
The distribution exercise, held at Odomoke Ishieke Primary School during the weekend was formally flagged off by the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Uchenna Igwe, who commended the initiative as a strategic boost to Ebonyi State government's efforts toward achieving food security and rural development.
Igwe urged beneficiaries to make proper use of the items, particularly fertilizers and improved rice seedlings, and cautioned against their resale.
He emphasized the importance of aligning with the government’s agricultural objectives to ensure long-term food sufficiency.
Speaking to journalists, Barr. Nwodo expressed gratitude to Governor Francis Nwifuru for his continued support, highlighting key projects in the constituency such as the twin Ogbogbo Bridges.
He noted that the empowerment program was driven by Governor Nwifuru's administration policies and programs anchored on the “People’s Charter of Needs."
He reaffirmed his commitment to addressing the welfare and economic needs of his constituents through sustainable initiatives.
Representing the Chairman of Ebonyi Local Government Area, the Chief of Staff, Barr. Obinna Iteshi, described the gesture as a practical step toward sustainable agricultural growth and urged other public officeholders to replicate such developmental efforts.
Also present were traditional rulers including Eze Hyacinth Awoke Nwiboko of Ndiebor Ishieke and Eze John Igboke of Onuenyim Agalegu, who lauded the lawmaker’s generosity and pledged to ensure proper use of the farm inputs within their communities.
Items distributed included bags of fertilizers, improved rice seedlings, and herbicides.
The event drew attendance from key stakeholders, including the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Paul Nwobashi, Ebonyi LGA Chairman Prince Chinedu Uburu, and various community leaders across the constituency.
