The Ebonyi State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his deliberate efforts to mainstream youth in national governance and decision-making processes.
This was made known yesterday by the NYCN State Chairman, Comrade Douglas Ochishi, during a press briefing at his Abakaliki office in Paa Ngene Oruta Township Stadium.
The statement came shortly after a courtesy visit by the NYCN Afikpo Chapter, led by Comrade Ebeke Onyenaucheya.
Ochishi lauded Tinubu’s commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises, particularly regarding youth participation and empowerment, including plans for the 2025 National Youth Confab.
He described the initiative as a major response to the widespread hunger protest of August 1, 2024, where Nigerian youths called for urgent government intervention.
“The President has shown leadership by action. His youth-inclusive policies are a clear signal that the future of Nigeria lies in the hands of its vibrant young population,” Ochishi stated.
The council also passed a fresh vote of confidence on Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State for his “giant strides in infrastructure and youth development” through the implementation of the People’s Charter of Needs policy.
In the same vein, NYCN hailed the State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Prince Richard Idike, for fostering unity and peace among youth bodies in the state — an achievement they said was worthy of emulation.
“We believe that with this current synergy, the 2025 National Youth Confab will serve as a turning point for the Nigerian youth and the nation at large,” he added.
The NYCN reaffirmed its unconditional support for both the federal and state governments, vowing to continue promoting youth empowerment in line with its motto: “Build D’ Youth; Build D’ Nation. Empower D’ Youths; Empower D’ Nation.”
