The Federal Government has officially launched the State Technical Committees (STCs) for the Youth Confab 2025 — a nationwide initiative designed to amplify youth voices in governance and policy-making.
Inaugurating the committees virtually, Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, described the event as a major leap toward inclusive leadership and grassroots-driven national dialogue. “This is not just an event, but a movement to give young Nigerians a real seat at the table,” he declared.
The STCs will lead consultations across all 360 Federal Constituencies, engage diaspora youth virtually, and ensure the participation of women, persons with disabilities, and other marginalized groups. Their key tasks include compiling community-based policy recommendations and creating safe, youth-led engagement platforms.
Olawande outlined five guiding principles for the process — Inclusion, Participation, Policy Relevance, Decentralisation, and Accountability — noting that the outcomes will feed directly into a National Youth Agenda and influence government decisions at the highest level.
Upcoming milestones include regional consolidation meetings, a national conference in Abuja, submission of a Policy Blueprint to the President, and the unveiling of a Youth Confab Impact Index to track implementation.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Olubunmi Olusanya, urged committee members to ensure no youth constituency is left behind, stressing transparency and coordinated grassroots engagement.
With the STCs now active, the path is set for what the government calls a “historic and transformational journey” toward youth-driven national renewal.
