In a bold and defiant appearance on Channels Television over the weekend, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, threw down the gauntlet to his detractors, daring anyone to prove he stole public funds or he’ll withdraw from the 2027 presidential contest.
Fielding pointed questions from anchor Seun Okinbaloye, Obi dismissed allegations of being part of a "criminal gang" as claimed by opposition voices.
“I am not a criminal,” he declared firmly.
“My public and private life are open for scrutiny. I governed Anambra State for 8 years and never took a kobo that didn’t belong to me.
"Even in my private business life, my records are clean and open," he said.
Obi said he would willingly abandon his 2027 presidential ambition if anyone could produce credible evidence showing he embezzled funds either as a public official or a private citizen.
His fiery response has since sparked conversations across political circles and social media, with many hailing his courage and transparency, while others see it as a direct challenge to the political status quo.
