The Abia State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has declared its firm commitment to internal unity and strategic electoral readiness ahead of the 2027 general elections, dismissing ongoing speculations of internal crisis and merger plans as “false, mischievous, and legally baseless.”
In a strongly-worded press statement issued by the State Chairman, Elder Abraham Amah, the party reaffirmed that the restoration of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the PDP is “lawful, collective, and final,” having been ratified by all critical organs of the party, including the National Executive Committee (NEC).
“The question of the National Secretary has been conclusively resolved. Any contrary claim is a calculated mischief and has no legal grounding,” the statement read.
The Abia PDP warned against a rising tide of misinformation allegedly being peddled by individuals “whose loyalty has shifted from the party’s collective interest to personal ambition and unholy alliances,” vowing to confront such schemes with discipline and facts.
The party also categorically denied rumours of any merger or alliance with other political forces, emphasizing that the PDP’s “identity is intact,” and that it remains fully mobilized and strategically positioned for all forthcoming elections—including off-season polls in Edo, Anambra, Oyo, Ekiti, and FCT Area Councils.
“Those peddling insinuations of alliance are agents of confusion who have long deviated from PDP ethos. We shall resist them at every front,” the statement warned.
The party further assured its members and supporters of a well-organized National Convention scheduled later this year, designed to reinforce its internal democracy and restore confidence in the PDP as the most viable political platform in the country.
Calling on party members to reject campaigns of calumny and unite behind the leadership, the Abia PDP maintained: “The PDP is not afraid of truth; we are founded on it. Our eyes are open. Our voice is firm. Our direction is clear.”
The statement concludes with a resounding affirmation of the PDP’s resolve to reclaim and lead Nigeria in 2027.
