The Special Assistant to the Chairman of Ishielu Local Government Area on Youth Mobilization and a former aspirant for the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Stephen Chinonso Egbe has issued a strong warning to opposition forces in the state, particularly within Ishielu LGA.
In a statement issued and made available to journalists in Abakaliki, Egbe reaffirmed his support for the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, praising the governor’s commitment to development and impactful governance across Ebonyi State.
His remarks came amid growing political tension ahead of future electoral cycles in Ebonyi State, with factions forming coalitions in various local governments.
"I want to commend His Excellency, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, for the remarkable work he's doing, especially the way he has been touching lives," Egbe said.
Turning his attention to recent political developments and rising criticisms from the opposition coalition in Ishielu, Egbe stated emphatically, "Ordinarily, I wasn’t going to comment on this coalition, but as a concerned citizen and party loyalist, I must say—we are not shaking."
He cautioned members of the opposition to exercise responsibility in their political engagements, emphasizing that criticism should serve a watchdog function rather than become a tool for destruction.
"The essence of opposition is to serve as a check on the ruling party, not to become a witch-hunt mechanism or an enemy of progress. We will not condone reckless attacks aimed at undermining the good work of the state government," he warned.
Egbe called on the youths and the general public to remain vigilant, particularly toward social media influencers allegedly sponsored to malign the present administration's policies.
He described such actions as harmful and illegal, warning that patience may soon wear thin if the trend continues.
"If you must criticize, do it constructively. Destructive criticism is an unlawful act, and we cannot stand by and watch illegalities thrive," he concluded.
