The Special Assistant to the Ebonyi State Governor on Internal Security (Ivo), Hon. Ike Cletus Ngah, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, hosted the women of Amaeke community, who are married outside their homeland, to a grand celebration of the Ikeji New Yam Festival in his compound at Amaeke, Ivo Local Government Area.
Hon. Ngah said the event was also an avenue to appreciate Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for wiping away the tears of Amaeke people through the construction of the 4-kilometre Amaeke road and the three-span Ike River bridge, which links the community to neighbouring Enugu State.
Speaking during the festival, some of the women, including Mrs. Orji Nkeiruka and Mrs. Chinenye Chukwu, said they gathered not only to mark the Ikeji celebration but also to appreciate Hon. Ngah for his constant interventions in the plight of their community.
They pledged the group’s readiness to mobilize massive support for Governor Nwifuru in 2027, citing his infrastructural achievements, especially the new road and bridge.
On his part, the Chairman of Amaeke Community Development Union, Mr. Onyegbule Okechukwu, expressed deep gratitude to the governor, stressing that the Amaeke road and Ike River bridge remain the only lifeline for the evacuation of farm produce and the shortest route to Aninri in Enugu State.
He declared that “not even a single vote will be given to another candidate except Nwifuru and APC candidates in the next election.”
Addressing the gathering of over 200 women, Hon. Ngah commended their unity, solidarity, and peaceful disposition, urging them to sustain their support for Governor Nwifuru, whom he described as a leader who has “wiped out the tears of Amaeke people.”
The security aide later treated the women to sumptuous refreshments and presented them with cash gifts, promising to provide uniforms and other logistics for their formal inauguration. He encouraged them to remain united, focused, and committed to building strong families, which he described as “the microcosm of a peaceful and prosperous society.”
