Ebonyi State Governor, Bldr Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, and the Minister of works, Senator David Umahi, have called on Muslims across the country to use the Eid-el-Maulud celebration to recommit to peace, unity and compassion, stressing that Nigeria’s progress depends on national cohesion.
In separate messages during the weekend, the two leaders congratulated the Musllims on the commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad, describing the occasion as a reminder of the Prophet’s enduring legacy of love, brotherhood and selfless service.
Governor Nwifuru, in his goodwill statement, urged the faithful to embrace humility and charity in marking the celebration, adding that “Eid-el-Maulud is a time for reflection, renewal of faith and reaffirmation of our collective commitment to peace and compassion.”
He assured that his administration would continue to roll out people-oriented programmes to improve the welfare of residents and commended Muslims in Ebonyi for their peaceful coexistence and contributions to state development.
Senator Umahi, for his part, emphasised that Nigeria’s stability and economic growth rest on the moral principles exemplified by the Prophet.
“Unity, peace and harmony are the pillars that will preserve our national fabric and drive the Renewed Hope agenda,” he said, urging Muslims to rededicate themselves to promoting social cohesion.
The two leaders tasked the Muslim community to pray for Nigeria’s peace, security and prosperity, stressing that the spirit of Eid-el-Maulud must inspire a stronger sense of nationhood across ethnic and religious divides.
