The Federal Lawmaker representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Reformatory Institutions, Rt. Hon. Comrade Chinedu Ogah has charged residents of Ikwo Local Government Area to prioritize voter registration and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as the most effective instrument to sustain good governance in Ebonyi State.
Ogah gave the charge on Monday, September 15, 2025, when he joined members of the Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru Youth Movement (FON) for a voter sensitization campaign and the official inauguration of FON Ward Leaders at the Ikwo Council Headquarters, Onuebonyi Echara.
The well-attended event drew an impressive crowd of stakeholders, including the Executive Chairman of Ikwo LGA, Hon. Barr. Sunday Nwankwo; commissioners; senior and special assistants to the governor; political aides from Ebonyi Central; as well as FON leaders, party loyalists, and youths mobilized from across the wards of the council area.
In his goodwill message, Hon. Ogah commended Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for what he described as visionary, progressive, and youth-centered governance. He noted that through strategic appointments and empowerment programmes, the governor has demonstrated rare confidence in young people, positioning them to take active roles in the administration of the state.
“Your PVC is your power,” Ogah declared to thunderous applause. “It is the most effective way to reciprocate the love and opportunities His Excellency has extended to the youth and people of Ebonyi State. Let us prepare to re-elect him for a second term to consolidate on this progress.”
The lawmaker, who is also a grassroots mobilizer, emphasized that active voter participation is a civic duty that guarantees continuity of developmental projects and democratic dividends.
Appealing to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ogah expressed concern over the inadequacy of voter registration facilities in Ikwo. He decried the deployment of only one registration machine to the council area, stressing that such a large and densely populated local government requires multiple registration points.
“Ikwo is too large for just one machine,” he said. “I urge INEC to release more machines and designate multiple registration points to accommodate the large number of prospective voters. This is essential to ensure an efficient and fair electoral process.”
The lawmaker further enjoined party members, youth groups, and community leaders to remain united and committed in mobilizing support for the governor’s re-election bid, insisting that the task of sustaining inclusive governance and a brighter future for Ebonyi State and Nigeria is a collective responsibility.
Earlier in their separate remarks, some stakeholders, including Hon. Barr. Sunday Nwankwo and leaders of the Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru Youth Movement, lauded Governor Nwifuru’s inclusive leadership style and expressed readiness to drive grassroots mobilization across Ikwo wards.
The inauguration of the FON Ward Leaders was seen as another strategic step in strengthening political structures at the grassroots ahead of the 2027 general elections.
