As Nigeria heads towards the 2027 general elections, one truth is becoming increasingly clear: the relevance of any politician will be measured not by empty rhetoric, but by the strength of their grassroots connection and the dividends they have delivered to their people.
In the eyes of the electorate, especially at the rural level, performance is the only currency that counts. And this is where Rt. Hon. Comrade Chinedu Ogah, OON, the member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, stands tall.
Unlike politicians who remember their people only during campaign seasons, Ogah has built an enduring bond with his constituents. His political relevance is not accidental; it is rooted in years of consistent service, selfless sacrifice, and visible results that have touched lives across Ebonyi State.
Grassroots Champion With Tangible Impact
Ogah’s reputation as a grassroots politician is not built on slogans. His projects and humanitarian interventions speak for themselves. From the provision of water, roads, and electricity, to scholarships and job placements, his signature initiatives dot virtually every ward in his constituency.
Just last Saturday, 172 students benefited from the seventh phase of his education-driven scholarship scheme, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to over 2,000 since inception. Long before becoming a legislator, he had already paid WAEC fees for thousands of students and supported many through vocational and tertiary institutions. Many of them today are professionals, lecturers, and even government officials.
“Show me any National Assembly member who has achieved what I have done. There is no ward where I have not executed a project,” Ogah boldly declared while addressing journalists in Abakaliki on Sunday.
His words are not mere boasts. Since assuming office in 2019, Ogah has secured over 1,100 federal jobs for Ebonyians in various agencies, including the military, police, and paramilitary institutions. He has also supported more than 450 students through university, facilitated the establishment of a National Open University study centre at the Correctional Service in Ebonyi, and executed multiple empowerment programmes that have lifted many households out of poverty.
A Politician With Vision Beyond 2027
For Ogah, politics is not about self-enrichment but about transforming lives. He has pledged to expand his focus on human capital development, agricultural mechanization, irrigation, and healthcare delivery if re-elected in 2027.
He insists that politics must be about service, not propaganda. Taking a swipe at critics, he described as “cheap noise” the antics of opponents who, according to him, lack the capacity to even win their polling units.
“I have tarred roads passing their houses, given their family members jobs, and paid their school fees. Yet, they now make disparaging remarks. If any of them can win me in their polling unit, I will quit politics,” Ogah challenged.
Loyalty to Governor Nwifuru and Ebonyi People
Ogah has also thrown his weight behind Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, describing him as a leader who has carried everyone along and empowered lawmakers to better serve their constituents. “Our Governor has done well and I will keep supporting him and complementing his efforts to move Ebonyi forward,” he assured.
The lawmaker spends most weekends in his constituency, unlike some of his colleagues who are rarely seen outside Abuja. This, he believes, is what sustains his unbeatable grassroots appeal.
2027: A Contest Already Decided?
In the run-up to 2027, Ogah’s grassroots machinery is already active, with his empowerment programmes and community projects keeping his name firmly rooted in the hearts of his people. For many in Ikwo and Ezza South, the choice is already made: a vote for Ogah is a vote for continuity of development, scholarships, jobs, and democracy dividends that reach the last man.
For his supporters, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Ogah is not just another politician seeking re-election — he is a movement, a storm, and a proven servant-leader whose bond with the grassroots is both organic and unshakable.
