Traditional rulers from across the South East have hailed Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for his unprecedented investment in rural infrastructure and the traditional institution, describing his leadership as a blueprint for peace and grassroots development in Nigeria.
Speaking at the South East Traditional Rulers Council Conference held in Abakaliki, the monarchs lauded Governor Nwifuru for constructing 67 modern palaces and 134km of concrete roads across Ebonyi communities—projects they said have restored honour and stability to the grassroots.
The Chairman of the South East Traditional Rulers Council and Imo Monarchs Chair, HRM Eze E.C. Okeke, extolled the governor as “a pride to Ndigbo,” noting that “these palaces are not buildings, they are instruments of peace and identity.”
Echoing him, HRM Charles Mkpuma, Ebonyi Traditional Rulers Council Chair, applauded the peaceful conduct of over 70 traditional stool and town union elections under Nwifuru’s administration, describing the return of community leadership as “redemptive.”
“Ebonyi is no longer just the Salt of the Nation — it is now the Gold Standard of Governance,” Mkpuma added.

Enugu Monarchs’ Chair, HRM Igwe Samuel Asadu, commended the governor for leading by example, noting, “Nwifuru’s children school in Ebonyi and his family uses public hospitals described this as a leadership grounded in integrity.”
In his remarks, Governor Nwifuru reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance through the Charter of Needs.
“We are building palaces because our kings deserve dignity, not as a favour, but as justice," he stated.
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Stephen Uchenna Igwe, highlighted that all projects were executed without a single loan, as the state remains Nigeria’s most peaceful and secure under Nwifuru.
He urged federal recognition of traditional rulers in the constitution and pledged continued unity with the custodians of culture and traditions in promoting Igbo cultural practices, particularly in Ebonyi State.
