In a major move to boost rural electrification and improve the quality of life for residents, the lawmaker representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial District and Chairman, Senate Committee on Information and National Orientation, Distinguished Senator Ken Eze, has donated brand new 300 KVA electricity transformers to three communities in the district.
The benefiting communitie including Ndiaguazu Umuoghara in Ezza North, Umuhali in Ishielu, and Amagu in Ezza South have endured prolonged periods of power outage.
The provision of the transformers, along with essential accessories, is expected to bring much-needed electricity and stimulate economic and social development in the region.
Senator Eze emphasized that access to electricity is crucial for both urban and rural progress.
He stated that the intervention is in line with his commitment to effective representation, quality service delivery, and alignment with the People’s Charter of Needs Agenda of Ebonyi State, under the leadership of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.
“The socio-economic benefits of electricity cannot be overemphasized. This is part of our continuous effort to make life more bearable for our people,” Senator Eze said, urging residents to support government initiatives and protect public infrastructure from vandalism.
Receiving the transformer on behalf of Ndiaguazu Umuoghara, Hon. Emeka Nwonu, Executive Secretary of the Ebonyi State Pension Board, lauded the Senator’s proactive leadership, noting it was the first time the community had received such a direct benefit from a National Assembly member.
"This marks a historic moment for our people,” Nwonu remarked. “Senator Eze has written his name in gold in our hearts.”
Overjoyed residents and stakeholders also commended the Senator for what they described as a beacon of hope and pledged their continued support to the APC-led administration in the state.
