Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State has launched a blistering attack on the governorship and deputy governorship candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing them of deceit and lack of credibility ahead of the November 8 governorship election.
Speaking on Thursday at the inauguration of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) election council in Awka, Soludo dismissed the APC governorship candidate, Mr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, and his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, as unfit to govern the state.
The governor said Ukachukwu had “no business contesting for governor,” alleging that the businessman lacked the competence to lead. “I have constructed roads for Ndi Anambra. I already have a job Ukachukwu can do with his body — he can drive tippers on those roads,” Soludo said.
Turning to Ekwunife, Soludo alleged that her claim of holding a PhD was fraudulent, insisting that investigations revealed the certificate she submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was not genuine.
“How can someone with only an SSCE obtain a PhD without a diploma, first degree, master’s or research work? After much investigation, it was discovered that the PhD she presented was bought from an unlicensed and unaccredited university abroad,” Soludo alleged.
The governor said Ekwunife should have stuck to her Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) rather than misleading the electorate.
“After November 8, when I am done with people deceiving our youths with Okiete, I will go after those parading fake certificates because they are confusing our children to think certificates can be bought,” Soludo said.
Neither Ukachukwu nor Ekwunife has publicly responded to the governor’s allegations as of the time of filing this report.
