The leadership of the United Igbo Elders Council (UNIEC) Worldwide has allegedly disowned Pastor Michael Obierika, an alleged suspended former member, over what it described as fraudulent claims of affiliation to the Council.
In a strongly worded statement signed by its Director-General, His Lordship Justice Alpha Ikpeama, and Prince Solomon Prince, Assistant National Director of Media and Publicity, UNIEC Worldwide clarified that Pastor Obierika and his associates allegedly registered an entity recently under the name United Igbo Elders Congress (UNIEC) Abuja and have been parading themselves as representatives of the globally recognized Council.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the United Igbo Elders Council (UNIEC) Worldwide has no connection whatsoever with this group,” the statement read.
“Any claims of affiliation with UNIEC Worldwide by Pastor Obierika or his associates are false, misleading, and should be disregarded," it further stated.
The Council explained that Obierika was allegedly suspended over conduct that violated its core principles and values.
It categorically dissociated itself from his group and warned the public that anyone dealing with him under the guise of UNIEC Abuja or UNIEC Worldwide does so at their own risk.
Reaffirming its leadership structure, UNIEC Worldwide emphasized that Justice Alpha Ikpeama remains its legitimate Director-General and the only recognized authority of the organization.
The Council urged media outlets, organizations, and the general public to circulate the disclaimer widely in order to protect its integrity and prevent misinformation.
