A strong wave of grassroots political support has emerged in Ebonyi State ahead of the 2027 general elections, as the people of Amagu Erimogwudu community in Ikwo Local Government Area formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Francis Nwifuru, and House of Representatives member, Hon. Chinedu Ogah, for re-election.
The endorsement was made during a high-powered Amagu Erimogwudu Mega Rally organized at the Ikwo South Development Centre Headquarters, Egunwenu drawing party faithful, traditional leaders, youth groups, and various socio-political blocs across the community.
Organisers said the event served as an appreciation for what they described as “unmatched developmental milestones” brought to the community under the leadership of the three political figures.
Delivering the keynote, Prof. Anthony Itumo, National President of the Amagu General Assembly, said the trio had transformed the socio-economic landscape of the community and should be returned to continue their respective mandates.
“This is not about sentiment or party loyalty. We have seen the projects, the job opportunities, and the support given to our people. That is why we are endorsing them today,” Itumo stated.
Hon. Chinedu Ogah, who represents Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency, detailed his constituency-level interventions, including over 50km of rural road construction, solar-powered street lights and boreholes in multiple villages, employment of 72 youths from the community into federal ministries and agencies, scholarships for over 400 students in tertiary and secondary institutions, distribution of motorcycles, tricycles, and small business grants.
“Since the people convinced me to enter politics in 2018, I made it my duty to serve. What we have achieved together is just the beginning,” Ogah told cheering supporters.
In a strong civic remarks, Barr. Okeagu Ogadah, the traditional prime minister of Amagu, who was the chairman of the occasion declared that community members who fail to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) will be denied access to public utilities, including water projects and local markets.
“We are not forcing anyone to vote, but you must have your PVC if you want to enjoy the dividends of democracy in this community. It is both a right and a responsibility,” Ogadah said.
Speaking on behalf of the APC, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, the Ebonyi State APC Chairman, represented by Deputy Chairman Aliphiouus Nwali, commended the community for its unity and political foresight.
“This endorsement is not only timely but reflective of the leadership the APC is known for. The best gift you can give these leaders is your vote,” he said.
Also speaking, the APC State Secretary, Chief Charles Ofoke, Prof. Emmanuel Akpukwa from the academic community, among other degintaries, urged the political class to sustain the momentum of development after the elections.
“What we see today is evidence-based politics. Let the performance continue beyond 2027,” Akpukwa hinted.
Governor Francis Nwifuru, represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Paul Nwogha, expressed appreciation for the endorsement, describing it as “a call to do more.”
“The Governor is aware of your support and will not take it lightly. This message will be delivered to him and to the Presidency as well,” Nwogha assured.
In a symbolic act of commitment, elders of the Amagu Erimogwudu community, including Chief Matthew Ogburuonye and HRH Eze Isaiah Otubo, presented live cows and tubers of yam as traditional tokens of blessing to the the governor.
They described the gesture as a spiritual and cultural confirmation of the community’s political alignment.
Our correspondent reports that the all the APC executive members were endorsed from top to bottom as the rally concluded with a unified call for massive voter registration across wards, as village chairmen, town union leaders, and councilors pledged to mobilize households for the 2027 elections.
It was also gathered that as the political atmosphere begins to heat up, the Amagu endorsement marked one of the earliest structured grassroots declarations in Ebonyi State signaling a potentially strong base of support for the APC in the coming elections.
