In a moving show of solidarity and compassion, members of the Eternal Brothers Club have rallied around one of their own, Chief Hyginus Egbo, following the painful loss of his beloved wife, Mrs. Jane Egbo.
The club, known for its strong bond of brotherhood and unity, gathered at Chief Egbo’s residence in Abakaliki to commiserate with him and his family.
Members offered heartfelt prayers, words of encouragement, and deep reflections on the life of the departed, assuring their colleague of unwavering support in his time of grief.
Speaking during the visit, the President of the Club, Hon. Charles Akpu-Enika, described Jane’s death as a devastating loss that has deeply shaken the entire membership.
Akpu-Enika, who is the immediate past Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports in Ebonyi State, noted that the late Mrs. Egbo was a virtuous and supportive woman who stood by her husband through life’s challenges and triumphs.
“She was kind, gentle, and left indelible marks on everyone who encountered her.
“We urge our brother to take heart and be consoled by the fact that his wife lived a life worthy of emulation," he said.
He emphasized that the Eternal Brothers Club is built on the principles of unity, love, and mutual support, adding that the members always stand together both in moments of celebration and sorrow.
“We are here in our numbers to offer fortitude to our brother over this painful demise, and to demonstrate the brotherly love that binds us as one family,” he added.
The Chairman of the Club’s Board of Trustees, Prince Richard Idike who currently serves as Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports in Ebonyi State also expressed deep sorrow over the incident.
He noted that the death of Mrs. Egbo was particularly painful to him on a personal level, having known the family closely for many years.
“I have not been myself since the sad news broke.
"This loss is not just that of our brother Hyginus, but of all of us. Only God knows why such things happen, and only He can give the strength to bear them," he said.
Offering prayers for the repose of the departed soul, he asked God to grant the Egbo family the courage and peace needed to face the difficult days ahead.
Speaking on behalf of the Patrons of the Club, Chief Kenneth Agu urged the bereaved family to find solace in God, reminding them that every occurrence in life unfolds within divine knowledge and purpose.
The Secretary of the Club, Barr. Emeka Anosike, offered a reflective note, observing that times like these remind mankind of the transient nature of life.
“After all the acquisitions and glamour of life,” he said, “man came with nothing and will ultimately return with nothing. What endures are the good deeds and memories left behind.”
Collectively moved by grief and compassion, the Eternal Brothers Club members concluded the condolence visit with fervent prayers for the peaceful repose of Mrs. Jane Egbo’s soul, and for divine comfort upon her husband, children, and the entire family.
Through their show of empathy and unity, the Eternal Brothers Club once again exemplified the essence of true brotherhood standing together not only in times of joy, but most profoundly, in moments of sorrow.
