Ebonyi State First Lady, Chief (Mrs.) Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru, has been hailed as a shining symbol of compassion and impactful leadership following her recognition as Nigeria’s Most Outstanding First Lady by the National Leadership Awards.
Hon. Sunday Elechi Inyima, Commissioner for Capital City Development and Urban Planning, described Mrs. Nwifuru—fondly called The Black Diamond—as a woman whose humanitarian touch has transformed countless lives in Ebonyi and beyond.
He said the First Lady’s pet project, the Better Tomorrow Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation (BERWO), has become a model of social impact, citing her construction and commissioning of 26 fully furnished houses for indigent widows and free maternal healthcare initiatives for pregnant women across the state.
“Her Excellency has redefined compassion through practical results. Her programmes have brought smiles to families, restored dignity to widows, and inspired confidence among women,” Inyima said.
The commissioner added that Mrs. Nwifuru’s leadership style—rooted in empathy, integrity, and vision—has earned her admiration nationwide and positioned her as a beacon of hope among Nigerian First Ladies.
“She stands tall for her results-driven compassion. Her passion for humanity continues to speak louder than words,” he emphasized.
Inyima, on behalf of his family, staff, and the ministry, congratulated the First Lady on her national honour and prayed for divine strength to continue her life-changing mission.
“We celebrate a mother, a leader, and a true humanitarian. More wins, our great mother,” he said.?
