*Urges leaders to back Tinubu in tackling hardship, insecurity
The Executive Chairman of Ivo Local Government Area in Ebonyi State, Chief Emmanuel Ajah, has called on contractors handling projects across the state to prioritize quality delivery and speedy execution, stressing that the era of abandoned or substandard works must end.
Chief Ajah made the call in Abakaliki during a press briefing to mark Nigeria’s 65th and Ebonyi State at 29th Independence Anniversary, where he also rallied support for Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s development agenda and urged grassroots leaders nationwide to complement the Renewed Hope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in addressing insecurity and economic hardship.
According to Ajah, while President Tinubu is rolling out reforms aimed at stabilizing the economy, state governors and council chairmen must “do their part by staying close to their people, providing security at the grassroots, and ensuring that public resources translate into real development.”
He insisted that local leaders have no excuse for neglecting their duties.
He said: “The President cannot be everywhere. Security and economic empowerment begin at the state and local government level. If every governor and council chairman plays his role, Nigeria will be safer, stronger, and better.”
Ajah also commended Governor Nwifuru for his infrastructure push, citing roads, schools, and water projects under construction, but maintained that contractors must be closely monitored to meet standards.
The LGA boss further urged Ebonyians and Nigerians at large to embrace patriotism, invest in their communities, and unite behind government programmes that can ease hardship, create jobs, and strengthen peace across the country.
