A magistrate court in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, has remanded Bishop Sam Onyeagoziri Ndubueze, leader of Champion Cathedral, in the Correctional Center Abakaliki over allegations of sexual misconduct.
Ndubueze faces multiple charges including unlawful carnal knowledge, threats, circulation of pornographic images, and emotional abuse related to a female victim.
The charges, filed under various sections of Ebonyi State laws, accused the cleric of luring the victim by promising to heal her sickle cell condition, then threatening her with a gun, and distributing her nude photographs online.
Magistrate Chima Nkechi Happiness ruled that the court lacks jurisdiction to try the case and ordered the transfer of all files to the Department of Public Prosecution for further action.
The trial has been adjourned to November 4, 2025.
