Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has dismissed as false and shocking the rumours circulating on social media that he travelled abroad for medical reasons.
Speaking during Nigeria’s 65th Independence and Ebonyi’s 29th anniversary celebration in Abakaliki, Nwifuru said he was “hale and hearty” throughout his foreign trip.
The governor noted that even his father was disturbed by the viral speculations and had called to verify his health status.
He cautioned critics against mistaking his calm disposition for weakness, stressing:
“When you see a man that is calm, be careful of him. This does not mean that we cannot bite, but I don’t want us to start biting.”
Nwifuru also highlighted his administration’s achievements under the People’s Charter of Needs agenda and reaffirmed his resolve to meet all promises made to the people.
Former governors Sam Egwu and Martin Elechi, alongside APC Chairman Stanley Okoro-Emegha, commended his leadership and pledged continued support for the state’s progress.
