An Abuja-based business tycoon, Engineer Darlington Ugota, has urged Nigerian youths to embrace resilience, hard work, and continuous capacity building to position themselves for future opportunities that foster personal growth and national development.
Ugota, the Chief Executive Officer of Valington Homes and Properties Ltd and Founder of Esthington Sports Club, gave the charge while speaking with journalists in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, during activities marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary and Ebonyi at 29 celebrations.
He encouraged young people to take advantage of the enabling environment created by the government to develop their potential and contribute meaningfully to the state’s progress.
“It’s not easy to have a government that listens to its people. Our governor’s leadership is people-driven, and his People’s Charter of Needs is a model that should inspire the youth to build capacity and make our leaders proud,” Ugota said.
The real estate developer emphasized that hard work remains the surest path to success, noting that many young people miss opportunities because they fail to prepare themselves adequately.
“Opportunities come everyday, but not everyone is ready to embrace them. Those who are prepared are often called lucky, but it’s simply because they worked hard,” he added.
Expressing satisfaction with the pace of development in Ebonyi State since its creation, Ugota commended the government for its investment in infrastructure, education, and other critical sectors.
“We have witnessed remarkable progress in road construction, educational facilities, and other basic infrastructure. Our state has come a long way, and the future is indeed bright,” he said.
He further encouraged young people to draw inspiration from ongoing developments in the state and commit to self-improvement, stressing that a prosperous Ebonyi and Nigeria depend on the collective efforts of all citizens especially the young people.
