Renowned Nigerian Evangelist and Fiery Preacher, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, has passed away at the age of 80.
His family announced his death in an official statement, indicating he was born born in the year 1975.
The statement described his death as a “triumphant homegoing,” celebrating a life dedicated to over six decades of preaching the gospel, performing miracles, and mentoring generations of ministers across Nigeria and beyond.
“With hearts full of gratitude, we celebrate the triumphant homegoing of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai,” the statement read. “He was a spiritual general known for evangelism, a founding father of faith, loving husband, devoted father, and mentor to many.”
Ukpai, widely known for his dynamic evangelistic crusades and passionate preaching, rose to national prominence after reportedly healing a mentally ill man at the age of 10—a defining moment he often credited as the beginning of his ministry.
Throughout his ministry, Ukpai was celebrated for his humility, powerful teachings, and unwavering commitment to spreading the message of Christ. His influence extended globally, drawing multitudes to his events and inspiring many into Christian ministry.
“While we mourn his physical absence, we rejoice that he has finished his race and is now resting in eternal praise,” the family added.
He is survived by his wife, children, and a global community of believers deeply impacted by his life and ministry.
