Nigerian musician and activist Folarin Falana, known as Falz, has called on citizens to think independently and resist manipulation along tribal and religious lines.
Falz made the comments while responding to a tweet from fellow artist Nasboi, who criticized politicians for exploiting ethnic and religious divisions to maintain power, all while enriching themselves.
“At some point, we need to start thinking for ourselves,” Falz wrote, expressing frustration at how these divides continue to dominate public discourse.
His remarks come amid heated debates online, following a controversial statement by former U.S. President Donald Trump threatening military intervention in Nigeria to protect Christians from attacks by extremists—a claim that has sparked criticism and social media uproar.
Falz’s stance reflects a growing concern among Nigerians about the persistence of tribalism and religious tension in the country.
By urging citizens to rise above these divisions, he joins other public figures advocating for unity and accountability in Nigerian politics.
