Former Anambra State Commissioner for Information, C-Don Adinuba, has firmly dismissed circulating rumours claiming that ex-governor Willie Obiano has died in London.
In a telephone interview on Friday, Adinuba described the reports as provocative, misleading, and entirely untrue, confirming that the former governor is “alive, strong, and in good health” in Houston, Texas, where he currently resides with his family.
“I just spoke with the former governor and members of his family a few minutes ago. He is hale and hearty in Houston, United States,” Adinuba said, urging the public to disregard what he termed an “irresponsible fabrication.”
He further stressed that contrary to social media claims, Obiano is neither in London nor receiving any medical treatment.
Obiano’s personal publicist, Tony Nezianya, also stated that he had received no information supporting the rumoured death, noting that he was “not aware of such news.”
Willie Obiano, who governed Anambra State from 2014 to 2022, is currently under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of a ₦4 billion fraud.
Adinuba appealed to the public to ignore the viral claims, reiterating that the ex-governor remains very much alive.
