The Alioma and Ezekuna Alioma autonomous communities in Ohaukwu Local Government Area have thrown their collective weight behind the re-election bid of Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru, citing his impactful role in restoring peace and driving development in Effium and the state at large.
The endorsement was made during the communities’ annual get-together held at Ebeta Primary School, Effium.
The event rich in cultural displays, vibrant solidarity, and communal celebration also featured the conferment of chieftaincy titles on notable stakeholders and peacemakers whose contributions have strengthened harmony in the area.
The gathering attracted dignitaries, traditional leaders, community associations, and residents from across the newly created autonomous communities.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Power, Chief Chinedu Awo, commended Governor Nwifuru for his steadfast commitment to resolving the protracted Effium communal crisis.
He noted that the governor’s peace-driven leadership has accelerated the recovery of the once-troubled communities and placed them firmly on a path of renewed stability and growth.
Chief Awo said the people of Alioma and Ezekuna Alioma are witnessing “a restoration of their long-lost glory” thanks to the state government’s peace interventions, adding that the communities would reciprocate by supporting the governor’s second-term bid as well as other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
He encouraged the newly installed chiefs to use their positions to champion truth, fairness, and lasting peace while supporting constituted authorities.
The paramount leader of the autonomous communities, Chief Emmanuel Owuru, and a renowned academic and community stakeholder, Dr. Joseph Utobo, commended Governor Nwifuru, Chief Awo, security agencies, and residents for their combined efforts toward stabilizing Effium.
They expressed satisfaction with the chieftaincy investitures, noting that the addition of new community chiefs would further strengthen local governance, promote peace, and enhance development in the area.
Newly crowned chiefs, including Chief Christian Nweke and Chief John Ochiagu, expressed gratitude to the people for the honour bestowed on them.
They pledged to uphold justice, truth, and peace, promising to use their new roles to foster unity and communal progress.
The event concluded with cultural performances and special prayers for the continued success of Governor Francis Nwifuru’s administration and the sustained peace now being enjoyed across Effium and its neighbouring communities.
