As Ebonyi State ushers in the New Year 2026, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ebonyi State Chapter, has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to youth development, peacebuilding, and the promotion of good governance across the state.
In a New Year message to youths and citizens of Ebonyi State, the State Chairman of NYCN, Comrade Douglas Ochishi, expressed gratitude to God for sustaining the state through the past year and emphasized that 2026 presents renewed opportunities for unity, progress, and responsible citizenship.
Ochishi commended the resilience and positive contributions of Ebonyi youths, urging them to remain law-abiding, innovative, and committed to education, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, and civic responsibility as tools for personal advancement and societal development.
He particularly applauded the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for his people-oriented leadership and continuous support for youth empowerment initiatives and inclusive governance.
The NYCN Chairman also extended New Year felicitations to Local Government Chairmen, members of the State Executive Council, legislators, political appointees, traditional rulers, security agencies, and federal government officials from Ebonyi State, commending their roles in governance and national development.
According to him, the NYCN Ebonyi State Chapter remains steadfast in advocating for increased youth inclusion in decision-making processes and in creating a peaceful and enabling environment where young people can thrive and contribute meaningfully to state and national development.
He expressed optimism that 2026 would usher in improved security, economic growth, and sustainable development for Ebonyi State and Nigeria at large, calling on all stakeholders to embrace integrity, accountability, and collective responsibility in service to the people.
Ochishi wished the youths and entire citizens of Ebonyi State a peaceful, prosperous, and fulfilling New Year, reaffirming NYCN’s resolve to partner with government and stakeholders in advancing youth-centered policies and good governance.
