Media practitioners under the umbrella of the Association of Izzi Media Workers (AIMW) have reaffirmed their commitment to peace, unity, and sustainable development, as they rallied support for the re-election of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and honoured a renowned philanthropist, Comrade Emmanuel Mbam, in Ebonyi State.
The media workers made this known during a courtesy visit to Comrade Mbam’s country home at Ezza-Ophu Inyimegu, Izzi Local Government Area, where they presented him with an Award of Excellence in recognition of his philanthropic gestures and humanitarian services to the people of Izzi and beyond.
Speaking on behalf of the association, the President of the Association of Izzi Media Workers, Comrade Emmanuel Nwizi, disclosed that the union comprises over 100 professional media practitioners operating across Abakaliki, Ebonyi and Izzi Local Government Areas, as well as other parts of the state and the diaspora.
He noted that members of the association have continued to distinguish themselves in the media industry, promoting responsible journalism and community development.
Comrade Nwizi stated that the association remains united in its resolve to promote one love, peace, unity, and progress of Izzi land, stressing that the media has a critical role to play in shaping public opinion and fostering social harmony.
The media workers also presented solidarity caps specially designed to demonstrate their preparedness and collective support for the re-election of Governor Francis Nwifuru in the 2027 general elections.
They described the governor as “a father, uncle, and brother to the people,” whose empowerment-driven leadership has positively impacted lives across the state.
In his response, Comrade Emmanuel Mbam described Governor Nwifuru as a godsend to Ebonyi State, urging citizens to continue to support his administration in order to sustain the current pace of development.
He commended the Izzi Media Workers, led by Comrade Emmanuel Nwizi, for the honour bestowed on him and assured them of his readiness to convey their message of solidarity and support to the governor.
Mbam further advised members of the association to remain patient, disciplined, and professional, emphasizing the importance of integrity and ethical conduct in the discharge of their media responsibilities.
In a vote of thanks, Comrade Peter Nwante appreciated Comrade Mbam for the warm reception accorded to the association and reaffirmed the union’s commitment to continuous partnership and cooperation in advancing the interests of Izzi land.
Highlights of the event included the presentation of the Award of Excellence, the Izzi Media Workers’ crested insignia, and the solidarity cap in support of Governor Francis Nwifuru’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.
