Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2023 general election, High Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, has declared that he will not seek any elective office in the 2027 general elections, pledging instead his full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Odii, popularly known as Anyichuks, made this known while speaking with journalists shortly after resigning his membership of the PDP on Thursday, January 1, 2026.
He explained that his decision was driven by what he described as the visible achievements of President Tinubu’s administration, particularly in road infrastructure, security, youth empowerment, and the inclusion of the South East in key federal appointments.
According to him, the Renewed Hope Agenda has given the South East region a renewed sense of belonging in national governance, while also guaranteeing improved security of lives and property.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu came at the right time in our political history,” Odii said.
“The impact is evident in road infrastructure, youth economic empowerment, and the strategic appointments given to Ndigbo. The South East is now more secured than in previous times.”
Odii commended President Tinubu for what he described as purposeful leadership, noting that while no administration is without challenges, the current government is clearly on the right path.
“There may not be complete perfection, but this administration is working towards providing a better future for Nigeria and all Nigerians. I am proud of what Mr. President is doing, and we must support him to do more,” he added.
On the 2027 general elections, the businessman and philanthropist was unequivocal, stating that he has no intention of contesting for any position, including governorship, Senate, or House of Representatives.
“I am not interested in contesting any election in 2027. I have run elections in this country, and I know what it takes. I will support whoever the Presidency endorses. My priority is to ensure that President Tinubu’s political ambition and second-term agenda succeed.”
He further clarified that although he has resigned from the PDP, he has not formally joined any other political party, urging the public to disregard speculations about his political future.
“I have not moved to another political party as we speak. There is no need for unnecessary speculation. The President we have now is doing well, and we must support him to succeed,” he said.
Odii also noted that governance in Nigeria is tenured and emphasized the need for stability, allowing the current administration to complete its mandate for effective consolidation of its policies and programmes.
Describing 2026 as a year of hope, he extended New Year greetings to the people of Ebonyi State and Nigerians at large, expressing optimism that the coming year would bring prosperity and progress across the country.
