The All Progressives Congress (APC), Councilorship primary election holding across political wards in Ebonyi State has produced Mr Oru Azubuike Cornelius popularly known as Gallop as the candidate of the Party in Amuzu Ward, Ezza South LGA, ahead of the Local Government Elections in the State.
The primary election which was keenly contested in the Ward, saw Mr Oru garnering a total of 796 votes to defeat his rival, Mr Chidi Orichi who scored 420 votes.
Earlier while addressing the supporters of the two contestants, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee and Leader Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon Kingsley Ikoro, admonished the people to be of good behavior and shun act that would disrupt the exercise.
He warned that he would automatically disqualify any contestant who allowed his supporters to disrupt the exercise, even as he assured a level playing ground.
The Secretary of the Electoral Committee who is the Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, Hon Sunday Ogbonnia in his remarks assured that the Committee would do the right by making sure the people freely make their choices without any form of manipulation.
As at the time of filing in this report, the electoral committee had concluded the exercise and left for the collation centre in Ezza South Local Government headquarters.
The party adopted option A-4 in conducting the primaries across the state.
Our correspondent who monitored the exercise reports that most of the Councilorship aspirants emerged unopposed in their respective wards, across the state, except a few wards where the aspirants failed to reconcile.END//
