The Ebonyi State Command of the Nigerian Forest Security Service (NFSS) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his sustained commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s national security architecture, particularly in the area of forest and rural security.
The Command also reaffirmed its unwavering confidence in the leadership of the Commander-General of the Service, Ambassador Joshua Osatimehin Wole, describing his stewardship as visionary, strategic, and transformational.
This position was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abakaliki by the State Public Relations Officer of the NFSS, CSF Nwaji Fredrick Abraham (Freeman), on behalf of the State Commander Igwe Larry Ikema.
The statement followed a unanimous Vote of Confidence passed on the Commander-General by officers and men of the Service in Ebonyi State.
According to the statement, the Ebonyi State Command aligned itself fully with the security vision of President Tinubu, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, noting that the Federal Government’s renewed focus on tackling insecurity especially criminal activities within forests and rural communities has further underscored the relevance of specialized security outfits such as the NFSS.
The Command described President Tinubu’s leadership as decisive and reform-driven, emphasizing that sustained federal commitment to inter-agency coordination and intelligence-led operations remains critical to safeguarding lives, property, and critical national assets across the country.
In reaffirming its confidence in Ambassador Joshua Osatimehin Wole, the Ebonyi NFSS praised his exemplary leadership, which it said has repositioned the Service into a more structured, disciplined, and nationally coordinated security organization.
The statement noted that under the Commander-General’s leadership, operational synergy between the national, zonal, and state commands has improved significantly, leading to enhanced efficiency and effectiveness in forest surveillance and rural security operations nationwide.
It further highlighted the Commander-General’s strong emphasis on capacity building, pointing to regular training and retraining programmes designed to equip personnel with modern skills and tactical knowledge required to respond to evolving security threats.
On institutional values, the Ebonyi Command stated that the Service has recorded measurable progress in discipline, accountability, and professionalism, developments it said have strengthened public trust and enhanced the credibility of the NFSS across the country.
The Command also commended Ambassador Wole’s robust engagement with government institutions, traditional authorities, and other critical stakeholders, describing such collaborations as vital to the growing recognition, acceptance, and operational success of the Service.
At the state level, the Ebonyi NFSS acknowledged the supportive role of the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, whose administration it said continues to promote peace, security, and effective inter-agency cooperation within the state.
The Ebonyi State Command thus, reaffirmed its total loyalty to the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Government of Ebonyi State, and the national leadership of the NFSS, while pledging its continued commitment to forest protection, rural safety, and the security of lives and property.
