The Coordinator of Ekumenyi Development Centre in Abakaliki LGA of Ebonyi State, Chika Joseph Nwibo has expressed his deep appreciation to the people of Ndu-Akpurata Okpuitumo Village in the area for constructing Uswe-Uzor bridge worth millions of naira, saying that the development showcased their desire to have government developmental projects in the village.
Nwibo gave the commendation shortly after the official commissioning of the bridge at the village playground in Abakaliki LGA of the State.
The coordinator described the bridge construction as the true demonstration of unity and peace among the villagers and extolled them for choosing to channel their resources for sustainable development rather than crisis.
He charged the villagers to sustain the existing peace and unity among one another, while calling on the elders and youths to support the village leadership in the overall interest and development of the village.
He further urged the villagers to shun all forms of violence, respect and love one another as no meaningful development would be achieved in the atmosphere of rancour and acrimony.
The Coordinator said he would liase with management committee members of the centre to find a way of addressing the pressing needs of villagers to alleviate their sufferings.
He charged them to participate actively on the ongoing APC membership card and voters card registration exercise and also remain supportive to Governor Nwifuru's led administration to reap more dividends of democracy.
While speaking, head of Ndu-Akpurata Okpuitumo village Mr. Sunday Anam said that the bridge was constructed through individual contributions, free will donations and the village limited resources.
He revealed that the bridge prior to its construction had earlier crippled the transportation of their farm produce to the urban areas and the trade between their village and neighbouring Izzilokwo Amachi village especially during rainy seasons but appreciated God Almighty for making it possible for the bridge to come into completion.
According to him "We are happy today that our long time dreams for access road between Ndu-Akpurata Okpuitumo village and neighbouring Izzilokwo Amachi is a dream come through. Today, we can comfortably move our farm produce to Abakaliki urban through this road which serves as short cut" he said
He appealed for the coordinator's assistance in the creation of pulling unit, provision of electric polls, motorized borehole, health facility, grading and lateracting of High hill- Odeligbo road and payment of 550, 000 incured debts among others to ameliorate their sufferings.
However, he thanked the coordinator and indeed all the stakeholders of Okpuitumo Autonomous Community for nominating their illustrious son Mr. Nwuga Ugochukwu to represent the ward in Abakaliki Legislative council and assured that the village would never disappoint them.
The APC ward 12 councillorship candidate Mr. Ugochukwu Nwuga commended the Coordinator for honoring their invitation while assuring that the village would remain supportive to his administration and that of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru at all times.
Some stakeholders of Okpuitumo Community who spoke at the event including Hon. John Mbam, Hon. Sunday Urazi, Hon. Kenneth Ogayi among others hailed the inclusive leadership of the coordinator and for ensuring peace in all nooks and crannies of the Community and urged other villages in Okpuitumo Community to emulate from Ndu-Akpurata for accelerated developmen
