The Ebonyi State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has commended prominent businessman and philanthropist, Chikaodiri Ojimba, for what it described as an enduring humanitarian legacy anchored on youth empowerment, grassroots development, and community peacebuilding.
The commendation was made during a courtesy visit by the Council’s leadership to Ojimba, who also serves as President of Izhi Nnodo Elite, in recognition of his sustained contributions to social welfare initiatives across Ebonyi State and beyond.
Speaking during the visit, the NYCN State Chairman, Comrade Douglas Ochishi, emphasized that the Council is intentional about the individuals and institutions it identifies with.
“We are deliberate in the partnerships we build. We do not celebrate individuals for ceremonial praise. We are here because you have consistently demonstrated genuine commitment to the youths of Ebonyi State, and we value you for that,” he stated.
He further noted that the Council’s engagements align with the policy direction of the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, under the People’s Charter of Needs agenda.
According to him, the administration has continued to prioritize youth-focused interventions, with many young people emerging as beneficiaries in education support programs, employment opportunities, skills acquisition, and various empowerment initiatives across sectors.
The Council highlighted Ojimba’s sponsorship of grassroots football tournaments in remote communities as a strategic intervention that goes beyond recreation.
The initiative, it said, constructively engages young people, identifies talents, fosters unity, and promotes peace at the grassroots level.
Earlier, the NYCN boss had publicly appreciated Ojimba’s “great handshake across the Salt of the Nation," a metaphor symbolizing his inclusive humanitarian outreach and cross-community impact throughout Ebonyi State.
Responding, Ojimba expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to humanitarian service.
He noted that many of his benevolent efforts are intentionally carried out without media publicity, stressing that true service to humanity should not always be driven by public acknowledgment.
He encouraged young people to remain focused, disciplined, and prepared for leadership responsibilities, emphasizing that sustainable development can only thrive where youths are empowered and purpose-driven.
Also present at the meeting were the Special Assistant to the Governor on Students’ Affairs, Comrade Joshua Nwafor, and other youth stakeholders, who described Ojimba’s philanthropic model as exemplary and worthy of emulation by corporate actors and well-meaning citizens.
Prayers were offered for continued strength and prosperity for the philanthropist as he continues to uplift vulnerable groups and champion developmental causes across the state.
As part of its continued commitment to youth advancement and in strong support of the Governor’s People’s Charter of Needs, the Council announced plans for a landmark event scheduled for March 2026, tagged:
“Youth in Agriculture Conference: A Great Agricultural Handshake Across the Salt of the Nation.”
The conference is designed to integrate young people into modern agricultural value chains while fostering strategic partnerships between government and the private sector. It aims to create sustainable opportunities in agribusiness, innovation, mechanized farming, agro-processing, and export development.
The NYCN reaffirmed that its mandate remains clear: “Build the Youth, Build the Nation.”
According to the leadership, integrating the private sector into youth-focused programs is not optional but essential, stressing that such collaboration will unlock investment opportunities, mentorship platforms, funding access, and enterprise development pathways capable of positioning Ebonyi youths as key drivers of economic growth.
The Council noted that agriculture remains a cornerstone of Ebonyi’s identity as the “Salt of the Nation,” and empowering young people within this sector will significantly contribute to food security, job creation, and long-term state development.
Observers described the growing synergy between youth institutions, government, and private stakeholders as a strategic shift toward structured youth advocacy, accountability, and impactful leadership; a model capable of redefining community development across Ebonyi State and beyond.
