In a stunning political move, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP) and a former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has officially defected from the ruling party to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The announcement was made in a press statement released yesterday, March 24, 2026.
Eze cited the “brazen ineptitude” of the APC-led government under President Bola Tinubu as a primary reason for his departure. He described the ruling party as “a congregation of political bandits and cannibals feasting on the poor souls of helpless citizens,” lamenting the worsening economic conditions, rising insecurity, and the collapse of democratic values in the country.
Reflecting on his past role in championing APC during its formative years, Eze expressed regret for promoting the party’s ideologies to Nigerians. “We promised Nigerians economic stability, security, food sufficiency, and quality education. Today, all of these promises lie in ruins,” he said.
“The APC has lost direction and has been reduced to a party of minions adoring gross incompetence.”
Chief Eze also criticized the government’s handling of insecurity, particularly in the North East and North Central regions, where farmers have been displaced by bandit attacks.
“Our people are fleeing their homes to Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps, yet the government continues to fail in protecting its citizens,” he said.
He further condemned recent attacks on opposition gatherings, including incidents in Lagos and Edo State, citing them as evidence of the APC’s undemocratic tendencies.
In declaring his alignment with ADC, Eze called on Nigerians to unite and take collective action to “recapture our country” and restore genuine democracy. He pledged to work alongside other patriots to propagate the ideals of the ADC for the betterment of the nation.
Eze’s defection also echoes the views of former Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Barr. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, whom he cited in describing the Tinubu-led government as “abysmally incompetent” and incapable of safeguarding the lives and livelihoods of Nigerians.
“The government is literally killing Nigerians. Suicide bombings are back, our soldiers are unsafe, and Nigerians are living in fear daily. Yet, the leadership continues to indulge in lavish lifestyles abroad,” Eze added.
He concluded by expressing optimism that, despite the ruling party’s hold on political structures, Nigerians will eventually unite to remove APC from power and elect leaders committed to the country’s development and security.
