The Chairman of Ebonyi Local Government Area and the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Barrister Chinedu Uburu, has clarified that he has not declared interest to contest the 2027 senatorial election for Ebonyi North Senatorial District now.
In a post shared on his official social media handle, Uburu addressed growing speculation and calls urging him to vie for the senate seat.
He emphasized that he remains fully committed to his current roles and is focused on serving the people of Ebonyi LGA.
“My attention has been drawn to calls urging me to contest for the position of Senate to represent Ebonyi North Senatorial District. I want to clarify that I have not declared interest in contesting for a senate seat or any elective position at the moment,” Uburu stated.
He expressed gratitude for the trust and confidence reposed in him, attributing it to his performance as a local government leader and as ALGON chairman.
Uburu assured residents that he would continue working diligently to maintain peace in Ebonyi LGA while delivering quality services.
“I sincerely appreciate the trust reposed in me; this trust is undoubtedly a result of my excellent performance in my current position. I assure you that I will keep working tirelessly as ALGON chairman and, of course, as the chairman of the most peaceful council in Ebonyi State, delivering quality services to the people.
"For all the trust you all had on me, I am grateful. Unu dike,” he added.
Uburu’s clarification is likely to put an end to speculation ahead of the 2027 polls, signaling his continued dedication to grassroots governance rather than a move into national legislative politics.
