The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide has issued a strong call for urgent international diplomatic intervention as Nigeria reportedly edges closer to total collapse.
In a statement signed by Comrade Emma Powerful, IPOB’s Spokesperson on Media and Publicity, the organization commended Mr. Mark Arnold and members of the United States Congress for their “courageous and timely” actions in highlighting the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the country.
According to IPOB, the interventions of Mr. Arnold and the US lawmakers have pierced what the group described as “a veil of international silence” over the systematic killings of Judeo-Christian communities across Nigeria.
The statement highlighted that regions including the Middle Belt, Southern Kaduna, Plateau, Benue, and parts of Yorubaland are experiencing widespread violence, while Biafra remains relatively secure under the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
“History will record that at a critical moment, when many chose diplomatic convenience over moral clarity, these leaders chose to speak truth to power,” IPOB said, urging the international community to heed the warnings of escalating atrocities.
IPOB reiterated its central demand: a peaceful, internationally supervised referendum for the people of Biafra to determine their political future. The organization emphasized that this is the only “civilized, lawful, and sustainable” solution to halt the ongoing cycle of bloodshed in Nigeria.
The statement further called on Biafrans and global supporters of justice to intensify diplomatic efforts across all continents, insisting that “Nigeria, as currently constituted, is a failed experiment hurtling towards disaster.”
IPOB warned that any attempt to suppress their demand through force or propaganda would accelerate the country’s disintegration.
Comrade Emma Powerful concluded, “The blind may choose to look away, but the clear-eyed among the international community can no longer pretend not to see the gathering storm. The time for half-measures is over.”
