The Ebonyi State Police Command confirmed the incident on Tuesday, stating that a formal complaint was lodged by the victims’ parents at the Izzi Divisional Headquarters.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) immediately initiated a comprehensive investigation upon receiving the report.
“The command is deeply concerned about the recent pattern of child abductions across the state and is committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice,” SP Ukandu said in a statement.
The victims identified as Favour, Obinna, and Kamso Okeoha were reportedly abducted on Saturday while their parents were away from home. Community sources alleged that a young woman, whose identity remains unknown, had recently rented an apartment within the compound just days prior to the abduction.
Residents described her presence as abrupt and suspicious, noting that she moved into the apartment only a day before the incident.
“She stayed barely a day before this happened. We don’t even know her name or where she came from,” a resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said.
This latest incident came amid a series of similar abductions in Ebonyi State including the kidnapping of the former state deputy governor, Chief Francis Igwe.
On February 7, 2026, three children were kidnapped opposite the Nkwagu Military Cantonment, while another trio was reportedly abducted earlier in the Nkaliki area.
The spate of kidnappings has heightened insecurity concerns among residents and law enforcement agencies alike.
Security analysts warned that the frequency of child abductions may indicate the emergence of organized criminal networks targeting vulnerable communities in the state.
Law enforcement officials have urged residents to exercise heightened vigilance, report suspicious activities promptly, and cooperate with ongoing investigations.
The Ebonyi State Police Command has assured the public that all efforts are being deployed to recover the abducted children and bring those responsible to justice.
