Chief Barrister Tochukwu Ogalegu (T-Man), Chairman of Zelus Group of Companies and CEO of Zelunjo Empowerment Foundation, has outlined a strategic framework for candidate selection in Ebonyi State’s All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.
Speaking in the wake of the party’s state congress that re-elected Chief Stanley Okoro Emeghia as State Chairman, Ogalegu emphasized that future electoral success hinges on the party’s commitment to merit, integrity, and demonstrable competence.
In his statement, Ogalegu commended party delegates and stakeholders for conducting a peaceful and transparent congress, noting that such orderly transitions reflect the APC’s growing internal democracy and organizational maturity.
He attributed the party’s cohesion and stability to disciplined governance practices and the stabilizing leadership of Governor Rt Hon Francis Nwifuru, whose administration has reinforced party unity and institutional continuity.
“The peaceful and transparent conduct of the congress demonstrates a party conscious of its democratic obligations. Moving forward, APC must ensure that candidate selection is guided by integrity, capability, and grassroots credibility,” Ogalegu stated.
Highlighting the strategic imperatives for 2027, he urged party leadership to resist populism-driven appointments and transactional politics, emphasizing that electorates are increasingly discerning and demand leaders capable of delivering tangible governance outcomes.
Candidates, he said, must possess verified political capital, public trust, and a proven track record of service.
“Political office is a fiduciary trust, not a platform for opportunism. As we approach another critical electoral watershed, APC must project leaders who combine ethical stewardship, policy foresight, and governance competence,” he explained.
Ogalegu also underscored the importance of aligning Ebonyi’s political strategy with broader national reform initiatives, calling for sustained support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Nwifuru.
He argued that policy continuity and strategic alignment are essential for consolidating socio-economic reforms, institutional development, and sustainable growth.
“Governance is a continuum. Leaders must ensure that ongoing reforms are not disrupted, and that institutional frameworks are strengthened to deliver inclusive development,” Ogalegu noted.
Beyond electoral strategy, he advocated for the emergence of philanthropists, technocrats, youth reformers, and humanitarian-minded leaders into elective positions, stressing that contemporary Nigerian politics must evolve from transactional engagement to transformative leadership.
“Public office must be about service, accountability, and impact. The electorate expects visionary leadership that can translate policies into measurable socio-economic outcomes,” he concluded.
Reaffirming his commitment to human capital development and social empowerment, Ogalegu assured that the Zelunjo Empowerment Foundation will continue its programs targeting vulnerable populations and underserved communities, reinforcing the principle that leadership is measured by the positive impact it delivers.
He called on APC members to intensify grassroots mobilization, strengthen internal cohesion, and engage in disciplined political planning to secure decisive victories in Ebonyi State and across the federation in the 2027 elections.
