The Honourable Commissioner for Information and State Orientation in Ebonyi State, Barr Ikeuwa Omebeh, has declared that Ebonyi remains the most peaceful state under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), attributing the prevailing political stability to the leadership acumen of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and the administration’s inclusive governance model.
Omebeh made the assertion while fielding questions from journalists shortly after the successful conduct of the APC State Congress held at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium in Abakaliki on Tuesday.
The exercise culminated in the emergence of a 36-member State Executive Committee, reaffirming what he described as “the maturity of party structures and the entrenched culture of internal democracy” in the state.
According to the Commissioner, the peaceful outcome of the congress was not accidental but a product of deliberate stakeholder engagement, strategic harmonization, and sustained conflict-resolution mechanisms championed by the governor and party leadership.
He emphasized that the absence of rancor, factional disputes, and post-congress litigations underscores Ebonyi’s reputation as a model of political cohesion within the APC fold nationwide.
“Ebonyi has demonstrated that politics need not be adversarial to the point of instability. Through consultation, consensus-building, and respect for party supremacy, we have sustained a climate where democratic processes can thrive without acrimony,” Omebeh stated.
He further linked the state’s political stability to the Governor’s People’s Charter of Needs policy thrust, describing it as a governance blueprint that has recalibrated the relationship between leadership and the grassroots.
The Commissioner noted that development can only be consolidated in an atmosphere of peace, mutual trust, and institutional discipline.
Omebeh commended party faithful across the 13 local government areas for their orderly conduct and unwavering loyalty to the APC, adding that the seamless congress reflects the deep-rooted acceptance of the party’s ideology and leadership direction in Ebonyi.
He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to sustaining internal party democracy, strengthening institutional frameworks, and fostering unity ahead of future electoral cycles, maintaining that Ebonyi’s political trajectory remains firmly anchored on stability, progress, and collective responsibility.
