The Ebonyi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly condemned the gruesome abduction and murder of HRH Ezeogo Francis Igwe of Ndufu-Alike Ikwo. The late monarch, father of the immediate past Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Barr Kelechi Igwe Ph.D., was reportedly kidnapped and killed under violent circumstances that have shocked the community.
In a show of solidarity, the APC state chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, led the party’s executives to the late monarch’s palace earlier today to commiserate with the family and the Ikwo community.
Speaking during the visit, Chief Emegha described the killing as barbaric, emphasizing that it tarnishes the image of the entire state.
He expressed deep sympathy to the family, the community, and the broader Ikwo clan, while urging security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
“We came as a party to give you strength. Be strong. The party stands by the position and decision of the Governor who doesn’t condone evil. What is evil is evil, and all of us must rise in condemnation of this heinous act,” he said.
Chief Emegha added, “The perpetrators must face justice. The greatest sin is to take away life; whoever is involved in this evil must be fished out and punished duly.” He further assured that the APC would cooperate fully with security agencies to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Secretary of the Eze’s cabinet, speaking on behalf of the bereaved family, thanked Chief Emegha and the party executives for their visit and support during this period of grief.
The party’s intervention underscores its commitment to peace, justice, and the protection of lives within Ebonyi State, while calling on residents to remain calm as authorities carry out investigations.
