The Ebonyi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has passed a unanimous vote of confidence on its State Chairman, Dr. Mrs. Jennifer Adibe-Nwafor, reaffirming its commitment to continuity, internal cohesion, and strategic leadership ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.
The endorsement was the high point of the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held at the party’s secretariat along the Old Abakaliki–Enugu Expressway, with full attendance of state executives, local government area chairmen, and selected party officials.
Moving the motion, the Chairman of Ohaukwu Local Government Area, Engr. Epherim Eze, commended the leadership style of Dr. Adibe-Nwafor, describing it as inclusive, transparent, and coalition-friendly.
He noted that since the emergence of the coalition framework within the party, the state chairman has demonstrated exceptional capacity in managing diverse political interests.
According to him, the chairman has maintained a delicate balance among stakeholders across party lines, ensuring that members and entrants from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and the ADC are accorded equal recognition and opportunities within the party structure.
“We are satisfied with her performance and the level of unity she has fostered within the party.
Her leadership has been instrumental in stabilizing the coalition and positioning the ADC for greater electoral competitiveness,” Eze stated.
He further emphasized the need to sustain the prevailing zoning arrangement within the state’s political architecture, arguing that equity and fairness remain critical to party stability.
He noted that with the governorship expected to rotate to the North and the deputy governorship to the South, it is only justifiable for the Central zone to retain the position of the state party chairman.
Seconding the motion, the State Youth Leader, Comrade Nwankwo Ikechukwu, reinforced the call for adherence to zoning principles, describing it as a tested mechanism for promoting inclusiveness and preventing intra-party conflicts.
He maintained that the leadership of Dr. Adibe-Nwafor has not only unified the party but also strengthened its grassroots appeal.
The motion, when put to a voice vote, received overwhelming support and was unanimously adopted by members of the State Executive Council and the 13 Local Government Area chairmen present at the meeting, alongside some of their secretaries.
In her response, Dr. Adibe-Nwafor expressed profound appreciation to party stakeholders for the renewed mandate of confidence, describing it as both a validation of her leadership and a call to greater service.
She pledged to deepen internal democracy, strengthen party structures, and consolidate the gains already recorded under her administration.
The state chairman further assured members of her commitment to fostering collaboration across all levels of the party, while intensifying mobilization efforts aimed at securing electoral victories in future contests, particularly the 2027 general elections.
