A prominent business leader and philanthropist, Chief Barr. Tochukwu Ogalegu (T-Man) has called on Nigerians to embrace peace, unity, and a governance system anchored on merit rather than religious considerations, as Muslims across the country and the world celebrate Eid-el-Fitr.
In a goodwill message marking the end of Ramadan on Friday, Ogalegu extended warm felicitations to the Muslim Ummah, describing the holy month as a period defined by sacrifice, discipline, compassion, and complete submission to the will of Almighty Allah.
He noted that Eid-el-Fitr symbolizes more than the conclusion of fasting, stressing that the virtues cultivated during Ramadan including piety, self-restraint, generosity, and empathy must be sustained beyond the season and translated into actions that promote national development and social harmony.
Ogalegu, the chairman of Zelus Groups of Companies and Chief Executive Officer, Zelunjo Empowerment Foundation used the occasion to underscore the urgent need for a shift in Nigeria’s governance culture, advocating a system driven by competence, capacity, and merit.
According to him, insulating governance from religious bias is essential for strengthening democratic institutions, ensuring equity, and fostering national cohesion.
“At this critical point in our nation’s history, Nigeria must rise above divisive tendencies and focus on building a society where leadership is determined by ability and integrity, not religious affiliation,” he stated.
He further emphasized that the country’s diversity should be seen as a source of strength rather than division, urging citizens and leaders alike to deepen interfaith understanding and work collectively toward a shared vision of peace, justice, and sustainable development.
Ogalegu also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his ongoing efforts in driving economic reforms, promoting national unity, and advancing infrastructure development across the country.
He equally lauded the Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for fostering inclusive governance and maintaining religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence within the state.
While urging Muslims to sustain the spirit of Ramadan, he called for continued acts of charity, compassion for the vulnerable, and active contributions to community and national growth.
Ogalegu expressed hope for a more united and prosperous Nigeria, praying that Almighty Allah accepts the prayers and sacrifices of the faithful and grants the nation enduring peace, stability, and progress.
