The Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, has declared that the South East chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is more united than ever and fully prepared to work towards the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Mbah made the assertion on Wednesday while addressing party faithful at the APC South East zonal congress held at the newly renovated Hotel Presidential in Enugu.
The congress, which drew a massive turnout of party leaders and delegates from across the five South East states, culminated in the emergence of a new zonal executive through a consensus arrangement.
According to the governor, the peaceful conduct and successful outcome of the ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses have reinforced the strength, cohesion, and resilience of the APC in the region.
“Ndi Igbo, our presence here today is a testament to the fact that the South East is APC and APC is South East,” Mbah stated. “We have proven wrong those Õ¸Õ¾Ö„Õ¥Ö€ predicted crisis and disunity. Instead, we have come out stronger, more united, and more determined.”
He emphasized that the seamless congress process reflects the party’s readiness to play a decisive role in national politics, particularly in securing President Tinubu’s second term.
“Our peaceful and successful congresses underscore our determination to re-elect the President come 2027. The reforms being implemented are bold and necessary steps toward economic growth and national development,” he added.
Earlier, the congress adopted the consensus method of election in line with the party’s constitution, following extensive consultations among key stakeholders.
The motion for the adoption of consensus and ratification of earlier congresses was moved by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, and unanimously endorsed by delegates.
At the end of the exercise, Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu was re-elected as the APC South East Vice Chairman, alongside other members of the eight-man zonal executive, including Dr. Oby Ajih as Zonal Woman Leader.
Mbah commended the outgoing zonal executives and party leaders for their contributions to strengthening the APC in the region, urging the newly elected officials to consolidate on the gains recorded.
“As we move toward the National Convention in Abuja, we must sustain this unity and sense of brotherhood. The South East APC must continue to stand as a model of internal cohesion and progressive politics,” he charged.
The congress was attended by prominent party stakeholders, including former Senate President Ken Nnamani and National Deputy Chairman (South), Chief Emma Eneukwu, among others.
