The congress, held on Wednesday at the Hotel Presidential in Enugu, drew a large turnout of party stakeholders, delegates, and faithful from across the South East geopolitical zone.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the exercise, Ogah commended the orderly and peaceful atmosphere that characterized the proceedings, noting that the seamless conduct of the congress underscores the maturity and cohesion of the APC in the region.
According to him, “the peaceful and transparent nature of the congress is a clear indication that the APC in the South East is consolidating on internal democracy and unity of purpose.”
Ogah used the occasion to reaffirm his unwavering support for the Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, whom he extolled for what he described as pragmatic leadership and inclusive political engagement.
He particularly commended the governor’s role in facilitating the emergence of Chief Innocent Itapa Azuobu as the APC South East Zonal Secretary, describing the development as strategic to strengthening the party’s administrative architecture in the zone.
“The emergence of Hon. Azuobu is not only timely but also reflective of the governor’s commitment to inclusiveness and equitable representation. It is a move that will undoubtedly enhance party cohesion and operational efficiency in the South East,” Ogah stated.
He further expressed confidence in Nwifuru’s leadership capacity, emphasizing that such interventions are critical to repositioning the APC as a formidable political force in the region ahead of future electoral cycles.
The high-profile congress witnessed the presence of key political figures, including the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma; the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah; and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, among other party chieftains.
Also in attendance were federal and state lawmakers, party executives, former ministers, and critical stakeholders, underscoring the significance of the gathering in shaping the party’s strategic direction in the South East.
