The institute, established in partnership with the African Skills and Innovation Network (ASIN), will offer programmes in artificial intelligence, fintech, cybersecurity, digital business, entrepreneurship, and agritech through a technology-enabled learning model.
Professor Chinedu Ekuma, Executive Director of IFSI, said the institute is structured to combine academic programmes, applied research, and professional training. “Our aim is to provide learners with the knowledge, practical skills, and innovative mindset needed in today’s rapidly evolving digital and innovation-driven world,” he stated.
IFSI will operate through a modern digital-first learning model, supported by an advanced Learning Management System and collaborations with global faculty. Students will engage with instructors, researchers, and industry experts both from Nigeria and internationally.
Speaking on the development, AE-FUNAI Vice-Chancellor, Professor Daniel Nwachukwu, emphasized that the institute reflects the university’s commitment to preparing students for the realities of a changing global economy.
“The world of work is changing at an unprecedented pace, and universities must evolve to prepare graduates for industries driven by digital technologies and innovation.
"The Institute for Future Skills and Innovation positions AE-FUNAI to equip students with the skills, creativity, and entrepreneurial mindset required to lead in the digital economy," he said.
He added that the launch aligns with AE-FUNAI’s broader vision of becoming a world-class centre of learning, research, and innovation, building an ecosystem of researchers, entrepreneurs, and technology leaders.
